The April Team Member of the Month Is...?

Congratulations to Charles Haynes for winning the Team Member of the Month Award for April!!

Charles has been working at our hotel as a Guest Service Representative since November 2012. He came to us from the Nuevo Inn & Suites, located here in Warrenton, VA, and has been a huge asset to our front desk team since the minute he joined our staff. Charles is a very professional, friendly family man who has a wife and 2 kids. He works full time at his own private company and 3 days a week at the hotel. The management staff always feels confident that when Charles is working there will not be any issues or problems. He is very well trained and not afraid to take control of every situation, both good and bad. Thank you Charles for being such a great employee!!

HipHipHorray Our Pool is Open!!

Nothing quite feels like summertime until the pools start re-opening and finally people can get outside and enjoy the beautiful, hot weather. Being that it was Memorial Day weekend, we were thankfully able to open our outdoor pool for our guests to enjoy. Our pool is one of the many wonderful amenities that guests get to enjoy during their stay with us. We pride ourselves on keeping the pool with the clearest blue water that we can supply. It is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, from 8:00am to 10:00pm.

Bright New Faces

Now that summer is just around the corner, we are finally out of our “slow” season at the hotel. There are wedding blocks almost every weekend from now until November and that means all of our employees, from both housekeeping and the front desk, are becoming busier with each week that passes by. As a result, we have several new faces walking around the hotel these days.

We have recently hired 5 new employees at the hotel and we are in the process of having them all trained for their specific department. Three of the new team members are working at the front desk and their names are Michelle, Cody and Mohammad. The other two new team members are working in the housekeeping department and their names are Carrie and Marnita. Marnita has previous experience in the hotel industry, having come from working at the Holiday Inn Express in Culpeper. Carrie, Michelle, Cody and Mohammad are brand new to the hospitality industry but all have a great work ethic and strong, friendly personalities.

Being in the hospitality industry, we do see our fair share of great employees come and go over the years, but we always make it a point to hire the best, most hardworking people that we can find. We pride ourselves on having employees with good moral values who want to serve our guests to the highest standard!

And the March Team Member of the Month Goes To...?

One incentive that we offer to all of our employees is the opportunity to win a Team Member of the Month Award if they exhibit an excellent job performance each and every day that they are at work. For the month of March, we awarded this honor to Ruby Edmonds. Ruby has been working at the hotel since it first opened in 2004. She is a hard working, caring, dedicated employee who always exhibits a positive attitude when she is at work. Ruby works primarily in the laundry department, ensuring that all of the daily linen and towels are cleaned to the highest standard. She also has training in the breakfast bar department and will help out from time to time if needed. We are so honored to have her on our team and we hope that she is with us for many more years to come!

Spring is in the Air

For the past couple of weeks it has felt more and more like spring outside with the warmer temperatures, birds chirping and cherry blossoms in full bloom. The fear of overcoming a snow shower has finally passed and now we can focus on planting fresh pansies in our flower beds, making sure our grass is neatly trimmed and feeling the excitement of knowing that our outdoor pool will soon be opening.

In honor of the spring and as a way to show our guests how much we appreciate their loyalty to our hotel, we have come up with a few ways to offer added value to their stays this season. One way is to offer a refreshing beverage station set up in the hotel lobby that will offer lemonade, sweet tea, cranberry juice, or pomegranate juice. During the winter months we had hot chocolate and apple cider with fresh cookies in our lobby which our guests really enjoyed and appreciated the thoughtful hot beverage on those especially cold days. We have also recently bought a popcorn machine that will sit in the lobby and every afternoon between the hours of 3pm and 6pm there will be fresh popcorn available to all our guests.

Making sure our guests are happy and satisfied with their stay at our hotel is our number one priority. The little perks that we offer definitely go a long way and we hope that they show our guests that we are always trying to present them with a little something extra to help make their stay something that is not only a special one but a memorable one.

Ranked #1 in Our Market!

The hotel's Guest Survey Scores are in for the month of March and we are ranked #1 for the second month in a row!! Guest Survey's are something that we pride ourselves on continuously trying to keep above a certain level. They are based on a 100 point scale and all of our employees work very hard at trying to stay above a 92 or better. Different aspects that the hotel is ranked on range anywhere from the guest's check-in experience, to the cleanliness of their room or bathroom, to the quality of food served at breakfast and all the way through to the check-out experience offered by the front desk agents. 

So far in 2013 we have had an average score of 92.5%. Guest surveys are extremely important and valuable because they allow us to know what our weaker areas are that guests would like to see improvement in and what our stronger qualities are that we need to continue to keep at that higher standard. It is always productive to know how guest's feel about their stay at the hotel and when they offer suggestions, we have to take them and try to make them into a reality as best as we can.

Every month we have a small group of 5 employees get together and discuss the scores as well as the comments we have received about the hotel. We also post the scores in the employee break room so that everyone knows how our hotel is ranked in our market. Being aware of how we are doing in comparison to other hotels is the first step in finding ways to continue to deliver the highest quality of service that our guest's expect.

Interested in throwing a surprise 50th birthday party for your husband but don't have the space at your house? Need a meeting room that will hold 20 people for a corporate training event? Look no further! Our hotel has one large meeting room that is over 900 square feet that can easily accommodate your next event. With enough tables and chairs to comfortably fit 80 people, we are the perfect place for wedding rehearsal dinners, baby showers, corporate meetings and any other kind of event you may have in mind. The meeting room can be rented between the hours of 7:00am to 11:00pm. Although we do not have a full service kitchen on site, we do allow outside catering for your event. We also have a variety of audio/visual equipment that is available for rental that will enable you to conduct your meeting to the upmost standard. Plus after your event is over, we have guest room accommodations available so that people can stay with us and not have to travel home. It’s the best of both worlds! A Little Introduction...

It is very hard to believe that our hotel is quickly approaching the 9 year mark since it first opened back in June 2004. For those of you who do not know anything about the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Warrenton, Virginia, or do not know anything about Warrenton for that matter, please allow me to give a little introduction about our hotel and the local area.

The Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Warrenton, VA is proudly owned by Dr. Robert Thomas and his wife, Martha Thomas, who currently reside in North Carolina. They first opened the property back in 2004 when they decided that every time they came to visit their daughter, son-in-law and their 2 kids, that it was very difficult to find a hotel room in Warrenton. At the time Warrenton only had 1 major hotel in town but that quickly changed when our doors were opened.

The Holiday Inn Express & Suites is located conveniently right off of route 29, 17 and 15. Here is a quick snapshot of our property: 85 guestrooms, including 15 junior suites, complimentary hot express start breakfast every morning, complimentary wired and wireless internet access, an outdoor pool that is open seasonally and a 24 hour fitness center and business center. We currently have 20 hardworking, dedicated employees on our staff who have one goal in mind and that is to make sure that every person who stays at our hotel receives the best quality of service in town.

Warrenton, Virginia is a quaint little town filled with lots of unique history and located just 40 miles south of the nation's capitol. Our town is known by many people as 'horse-country' because it is home to several large horse shows and events throughout the year, including the Virginia Gold Cup Races that occur every spring and fall at Great Meadow in The Plains, VA.

We proudly welcome both leisure and business travelers to our hotel. During the week we see a lot of people traveling on business, whether it is a government employee visiting the Warrenton Training Center or someone coming in to work at one of our many local businesses such as Greystone, Polysonics, or the Fauquier Hospital. On the weekends we are host to wedding parties, sports teams, family reunions or any other events that may take place at any of the number of venues in the local area, such as Fauquier Springs Country Club, Morais Vineyards, The Black Horse Inn, Poplar Springs, and the list goes on and on.

Although our hotel may not be the largest property in the area, it is certainly filled with people who have positive attitudes, infectious smiles, and the desire to make each and every guest happy.
